San Jose Sharks 1, Detroit Red Wings 0 (SO) - (from Detroit) - The Sharks improved to 8-0-1 on the season thanks to a 1-0 shutout win over the Detroit Red Wings, dropping them to 6-3-1.

1. Antti Niemi (24 saves on 24 shots for the shutout) - San Jose

Colorado Avalanche 1, Pittsburgh Penguins 0 (from Pittsburgh) - The Avalanche improved to an impressive 8-1-0 record thanks to a 1-0 shutout of the Pittsburgh Penguins, dropping them to 7-2-0.

Player of the Night - This is a tie between two goaltenders who posted impressive shutouts; J.S. Giguere stopping 34 shots against the Penguins and Antti Niemi stopping 24 shots against the Red Wings. Jimmy Howard stopped all 27 shots he faced, allowing only a Logan Couture shootout winner.

Interesting Stat of the Night - The Avalanche shutout of the Penguins was even more impressive considering this statistic: The Penguins were shut out on home ice at the Consol Energy Center for the 1st time since Sidney Crosby has been on the team (05-06).
