A look at all the trades in the NHL from January 1st, 2017 through the Trade Deadline on March 1st, 2017:

48) Florida Panthers Acquire: D Reece Scarlett
New Jersey Devils Acquire: F Shane Harper
Analysis: Minor-league deal

47) Chicago Blackhasks Acquire: F Kenton Helgesen, 2019 7th-Round Pick
Anaheim Ducks Acquire: F Sam Carrick, F Spencer Abbott
Analysis: Minor-league deal

46) Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire: F Lauri Korpikoski
Dallas Stars Acquire: D Dillon Heatherington
Analysis: Blue Jackets add a depth forward for the playoff push

45) Boston Bruins Acquire: F Drew Statfford
Winnipeg Jets Acquire: Conditional 2017 6th-Round Pick
Analysis: Bruins add a depth forward for the playoff push

44) Pittsburgh Penguins Acquire: D Mark Streit
Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: 2018 4th-Round Pick
Analysis: So much for the Lightning needing a boost on their defense, Streit is flipped to the Penguins for a 4th round pick. With injuries to Olli Maata and Trevor Daley, the Penguins add some much-needed depth on defense. Streit should be an excellent fit in Pittsburgh.

43) Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire: F Eric Fehr, D Steve Oleksy
Pittsburgh Penguins Acquire: D Frankie Corrado
Analysis: Penguins dump Fehr's salary to move another move, Leafs bring him on as a depth forward. The teams also swap minor-league defenseman with Corrado heading to Pittsburgh and Oleksy heading to Toronto.

42) Calgary Flames Acquire: F Curtis Lazar, D Mike Kostka
Ottawa Senators Acquire: D Jyrki Jokipakka, 2017 2nd-Round Pick
Analysis: The Senators ship out their 1st-round pick from 2013 in Lazar, someone who had been asking for a trade for most of the season. In return for Lazar and AHL defenseman Mike Kostka, they Senators get Finnish defenseman Jokipakka and a 2nd-round pick. Either way Curtis Lazar getting a fresh start in Calgary will be worth watching.

41) Nashville Predators Acquire: F P.A. Parenteau
New Jersey Devils Acquire: 2017 6th-Round pick
Analysis: The Predators add some depth scoring for the playoffs in Parenteau, who has 13 goals in 59 games this season.

40) Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: D Mark Streit
Philadelphia Flyers Acquire: F Valtteri Filppula, 2017 4th-Round pick, Conditional 2017 7th-round pick.
Analysis: The Lightning add some much-needed offense on their blueline in the 39-year old Streit, who's a pending FA at the end of the season. More importantly they get rid of Valterri Filppula's contract, who has 1 year left at $5 million cap hit. This trade seems to be 2 players in need of a change of scenery.

39) Montreal Canadiens Acquire: F Andreas Martinsen
Colorado Avalanche Acquire: F Sven Andrighetto
Analysis: The Canadiens continue to add size to their lineup adding 6'3 Andreas Martinsen from Colorado in exchange for Swiss forward Sven Andrighetto.

38) New Jersey Devils Acquire: D Dalton Prout
Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire: D Kyle Quincey
Analysis: A swap of depth defenseman

37) New York Rangers Acquire: F Taylor Beck
Edmonton Oilers Acquire: F Justin Fontaine
Analysis: Minor-league deal

36) Florida Panthers Acquire: G Adam Wilcox
Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: G Mike McKenna
Analysis: Minor-league deal

35) Los Angeles Kings Acquire: F Jarome Iginla
Colorado Avalanche Acquire: Conditional 2018 4th-round pick
Analysis: The 39-year old Iginla get's out of the distaster in Colorado and get's a chance to play for a team in a playoff run. Iginla has never won the Stanley Cup before, and will likely retire at season's end, good to see him move to a team that has a chance. The Avalanche will also retain half of Iginla's salary (1-year left at $5.3 million cap hit).

34) Montreal Candiens Acquire: K Dwight King
Los Angeles Kings Acquire: Conditional 2018 4th-Round Pick
Analysis: Habs make another depth move, adding some size with 6'4 Dwight King.

33) Florida Panthers Acquire: F Thomas Vanek
Detroit Red Wings Acquire: D Dylan McIlrath, 2017 3rd-Round Pick
Analysis: The Panthers add a great power-forward in Vanek for their playoff push, he comes cheap too for just a prospect and a 3rd-round pick. He has 38 points in 48 games this season, should make an immediate impact in Florida. The Red Wings also retain half of Vanek's salary in the trade (1-year $2.6 million contract).

32) Washington Capitals Acquire: D Cody Corbett
Colorado Avalanche Acquire: G Joe Cannata
Analysis: Minor-league deal

31) Colorado Avalanche Acquire: F Brendan Ranford
Arizona Coyotes Acquire: F Joe Whitney
Analysis: Minor-league deal

30) Montreal Canadiens Acquire: F Steve Ott
Detroit Red Wings Acquire: 2018 6th-Round Pick
Analysis: The Habs add some grit and a veteran presence in Ott, who will be nothing more than a depth player for Claude Julien.

29) San Jose Sharks Acquire: F Jannik Hansen
Vancouver Canucks Acquire: F Nikolay Goldobin, 2017 Conditional 4th-Round Pick
Analysis: The Sharks add a solid depth forward in the longtime Canuck Jannik Hansen, who had been with Vancouver since 2007. Jim Benning adds another strong prospect in 2014 1st-round pick Nikolay Goldobin, as well as a potentially big conditional pick: If the Sharks win the Stanley Cup, the 4th-round pick becomes a 1st-round pick. This is a win-win for both teams.

28) Edmonton Oilers Acquire: F David Desharnais
Montreal Canadiens Acquire: D Brandon Davidson
Analysis: Montreal continues to make additions to their blueline, shipping out the longtime Hab David Desharnais to Edmonton for Brandon Davidson. Desharnais has been with the Habs since 2010 and will provide the Oilers with some depth at center. Davidson was in and out of the lineup for Edmonton this season and will likely face the same role in Montreal, but he has good upside at just 25 years old.

27) Chicago Blackhawks Acquire: D Johnny Oduya
Dallas Stars Acquire: F Mark McNeill, 2018 Conditional 4th-Round Pick
Analysis: The Blackhawks add some experience to their defense for the playoff run, and they get a familiar face in Johnny Oduya who last played in Chicago in 2015. He won Stanley Cup's with them in 2013 and 2015, and comes at a fairly cheap price. Conditions on the pick: If the Hawks win two playoff rounds and Oduya plays half of the games, the 4th-round pick becomes a 3rd-round pick. The Stars retain half of his salary too, really like this deal for Chicago.

26) New York Rangers Acquire: F Daniel Catenacci
Buffalo Sabres Acquire: D Mat Bodie
Analysis: Minor-league deal

25) Ottawa Senators Acquire: F Viktor Stalberg
Carolina Hurricanes Acquire: 2017 3rd-Round Pick
Analysis: Stalberg is nothing more than a depth forward, Sens continue to give assets away on questionable players.

24) New York Rangers Acquire: D Brendan Smith
Detroit Red Wings Acquire: 2017 3rd-Round Pick, 2018 2nd-Round Pick
Analysis: Rangers add some much-needed depth on defense with the 28-year old Smith, but they pay a good price with 2 draft picks.

23) Washington Capitals Acquire: D Kevin Shattenkirk, G Phoenix Copley
St. Louis Blues Acquire: 2017 1st-Round Pick, 2019 Conditional 2nd-Round Pick, F Zach Sanford, F Brad Malone

Analysis: Caps GM Brian MacLellan laying all his cards on the table! This is a major move for the Caps, a team looking to finally make a Stanley Cup run. Even if he is here as a rental, they didn't have to give up a whole lot to get him and he should pay immediate dividends. The conditions on the 2nd-round pick going to St. Louis: if he re-signs in Washington or they reach the Eastern Conference Finals with him playing at least half the games.

22) Ottawa Senators Acquire: F Alex Burrows
Vancouver Canucks Acquire: F Jonathan Dahlen

Analysis: The longtime Canuck is on his way to Ottawa, signing a 2-year $5 million extension before he plays a game. I've never been much of a fan of Burrows, and I really don't get giving up Dahen here, who looked fantastic for Sweden at the World Juniors and is a top prospect. For once in a blue moon Jim Benning actually won a trade!

21) Montreal Canadiens Acquire: D Jordie Benn
Dallas Stars Acquire: D Greg Pateryn, 2017 4th-Round Pick

Analysis: The Habs bring in older brother of Stars Captain Jamie Benn, who must be upset they just traded his brother! He comes to Montreal as a depth defenseman for the playoff stretch.

20) Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire: F Brian Boyle
Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: 2017 2nd-Round Pick, F Byron Froese

Analysis: This is a perfect trade for the Leafs, who were actually on the verge of signing Boyle in 2014 before he chose Tampa Bay. Mike Babcock must be salivating at the mouth at this addition, he's a perfect fit for a young Toronto team and should make an immediate impact. Interesting to note: since 2011 he has played the most playoff games in the NHL (100). They didn't give up a lot to get him and could potentially re-sign him this summer, fantastic move by Lou Lamiorello.

19) Arizona Coyotes Acquire: F Teemu Pulkkinen
      Minnesota Wild Acquire: Future Considerations

Analysis: Minor-league deal

18) Minnesota Wild Acquire: F Martin Hanzal, F Ryan White, 2017 4th-Round Pick
      Arizona Coyotes Acquire: 2017 1st-Round Pick, 2018 2nd-Round Pick, 2019 Conditional 4th-Round Pick, F Grayson Downing

Analysis: The Wild are clearly making an aggressive push for the playoffs, but they payed a very steep price to get a rental in Martin Hanzal. He hasn't played a full season since 2009 and they gave up a package of picks for him, hopefully it pays off come playoff time.

17) Los Angeles Kings Acquire: G Ben Bishop, 2017 5th-Round Pick
Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: G Peter Budaj, D Eric Cernak, 2017 7th-Round Pick

Analysis: Just days before the deadline we have the first big trade, but I'm a little bit confused at this one folks. The Lightning have been rumoured to traded Ben Bishop for years, however they waited until the last second and really didn't get a lot in this trade. The Kings bring Bishop in as insurance for Quick, who just returned from a 4-month injury just in-time for the playoff push. Bishop is a free-agent this summer and most likely headed to Las Vegas as Quick will be protected.

16) Chicago Blackhawks Acquire: F Tomas Jurco
Detroit Red Wings Acquire: 2017 3rd-Round Pick

Analysis: Jurco is a highly-skilled player but never seemed to get a fair chance in Detroit, and that's exactly what he'll get with Joel Quenneville and the Hawks.

15) Anaheim Ducks Acquire: F Patrick Eaves
Dallas Stars Acquire: 2017 Conditional 2nd-Round Pick

Analysis: This is a fantastic pickup by the Ducks for several reasons, most notably that Eaves is a bargain at $1 million cap hit with 21 goals and 37 points in 59 games this season. The conditions on the pick are as follows: If the Ducks advance to the Western Conference Final, and Eaves plays in at least half of their games in rounds 1 & 2, the Stars get the Ducks' 1st-round pick in the 2017 draft.

14) Pittsburgh Penguins Acquire: D Ron Hainsey
Carolina Hurricanes Acquire: F Danny Kristo, 2017 2nd-Round Pick

Analysis: With a rash of injuries on defense, including Olli Maatta and Trevor Daley for 6 weeks, the Penguins bring in the veteran Hainsey to provide some much-needed depth. Interesting about Hainsey, he had played 891 games in his career without making the playoffs, the most of any active player. He also got to make his debut with the Penguins during the outdoor game vs. Philadelphia, he must be in heaven right now!

13) Montreal Canadiens Acquire: D Keegan Lowe
Carolina Hurricanes Acquire: D Philip Samuelsson

Analysis: Minor-leauge deal

12) Calgary Flames Acquire: D Michael Stone
Arizona Coyotes Acquire: 2018 3rd-Round Pick, 2018 Conditional 5th-Round Pick

Analysis: Really like this trade for the Flames, who add a solid right-shot defenseman in Michael Stone, older brother of Sens F Mark Stone. The Coyotes start their sell-off of players by trading Stone.

11) Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire: F Sergey Kalinin
New Jersey Devils Acquire: D Viktor Loov

Analysis: Minor-league deal

10) Washington Capitals Acquire: D Tom Gilbert
Los Angelse Kings Acquire: 2017 Conditional 5th-Round Pick

Analysis: Gilbert couldn't stay in the lineup in Los Angeles and was on waivers several times, he goes to the Capitals as insurance for injuries down the stretch (AHL for now).

9) Nashville Predators Acquire: F Vernon Fiddler
New Jersey Devils Acquire: 2017 4th-Round Pick

Analysis: Fiddler returns to the Predators, the team he started his career with (2002-2008). Nashville brings him in as a depth center and to kill penalties.

8) Edmonton Oilers Acquire: F Henrik Samuelsson
Arizona Coyotes Acquire: F Mitch Moroz

Analysis: Minor-league deal

7) Dallas Stars Acquire: G Justin Peters, D Justin Hache
Arizona Coyotes Acquire: F Brendan Ranford, F Branden Trock

Analysis: Minor-league deal

6) Montreal Canadiens Acquire: D Nikita Nesterov
Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: D Jonathan Racine, 2017 6th Round Pick

Analysis: Canadiens add Nesterov as a depth defenseman, he wasn't playing every night in Tampa Bay however.

5) Ottawa Senators Acquire: F Tommy Wingels
San Jose Sharks Acquire: F Zach Stortini, F Buddy Robinson, 2017 7th-Round Pick

Analysis: Wingels was one of a few forwards on the outside looking in with the Sharks, some young players earned their spots and he was scratched often. Senators pick him up as a depth center. Side-note: Zach Stortini was still in the NHL??? (Last played in 2011).

4) Chicago Blackhawks Acquire: F Michael Latta
Los Angeles Kings Acquire: D Cam Schilling

Analysis: Minor-league deal

3) Nashville Predators Acquire: D Andrew O'Brien
Anaheim Ducks Acquire: F Max Gortz

Analysis: Minor-league deal

2) Nashville Predators Acquire: F Cody McLeod
Colorado Avalanche Acquire: F Felix Girard

Analysis: McLeod was the longest tenured Avalanche having played 10 seasons in Colorado, as an Avs fan I'm happy to see McLeod get his chance in the playoffs with Nashville.

1) Anaheim Ducks Acquire: G Jhonas Enroth
Toronto Maple Leafs Acquire: 2018 7th Round Pick

Analysis: Enroth was inconsistent in his short stint in Toronto, and that lead to him being waived and sent down to the AHL on multiple occasions. Ducks bring in in as a 3rd goalie as the Leafs claimed Curtis McElhinney who seems to have done what Enroth couldn't do and keep the backup role.
